| Afternoon tt.net, I have a TT swapped Z running the NA rear subframe and NA rear diff. I would like to know how to tell if my differential is working properly. From researching it appears my car should have a Viscous LSD(VLSD). There are two things that concern me about how my diff is currently functioning.. 1. In a wet parking lot one day I played around with sliding the car and learning car control. Each time I was turning and applying throttle, the inside tire would spin easily while the outside tire maintained grip with no power sent to it. This happened turning in both directions. This sounds like classic symptoms of an open diff. 2. When the tires loose traction under acceleration in a straight line(dry or wet), the rear end of the car will abruptly jut to the right, not spin clean in a straight line like most cars. It could be dangerous and lead to losing control of the car if the driver is not prepared. I have recently had an alignment done(car drives soooo good now) so this is not the reason. All of my Z's have always done this as well, so it is not just particular to this car. I recently noticed Redline offers two types of synthetic MT90 gear oil. One is specifically for VLSDs. Has anyone tried this? What do you guys think of these symptoms? Is my diff likely worn out and in need of a rebuild? Can they be rebuilt? I am planning to do a track event this summer and would really like to have a proper functioning differential. Look forward to an interesting discussion. Thanks
